What a snoozefest so far!

From Sukhdev:

Is it me or is this World Cup pretty dull so far. With rare glimpses of great games such as from the Germans, and the Argentina game against Nigeria, things have been too subdued. Whether it is the vuvuzelas putting people off, or the fear of losing making nerves tingle, we need to see better play. And not just in the last 10-20 minutes. It seems like only then do we see teams really push forward and try to win. Cote d'Ivoire vs Portugal seems fairly stagnant in the first half, as fouls abounded. The second half was a little better. I didn't get to see the Slovakia vs New Zealand game, but I heard it was a snoozefest. As for Brazil vs Korea DPR, you have to give it to Korea for their fighting spirit.

So to today's games and the end of the first set of games in the first round. Chile should prove too hard for Honduras. With Chile finishing well in the South American League and, let's face it, Honduras coming in from a fairly easy qualification bracket, we should see Chile dominate.

Then come one of the favourites in Spain. I hope they play to their potential, if only to have a happy Javier around the place. If they can't do something with this team, I think it is time to lose all hope of the Spaniards' mentality.

Finally the host nation's next game against Uruguay. I thought drawing with Mexico was a little bit of a shock considering Mexico has one of its best teams for a while. So against Uruguay, I give them little hope. Let's at least hope Uruguay play a little and don't just foul people.
